Nearly there....

I've been trying to get Queen Mermaid finished and finally, I'm down to just backstitching and beading left to do.  Yay!

She's got a lot of beads so that will no doubt take a little time.   Good thing I have a day off tomorrow!

Progress on Queen Mermaid

It's a Mermaid SAL week, so I've been giving Queen Mermaid some attention.  

She's stitching up very quickly, but I ran out of 085 Kreinik, so I have to order some more.  

Royal Holiday Completed

Yes, I am still here and still stitching!   Unfortunately I had some issues getting my old camera to talk to my new laptop, but have resolved that now.   Of course, I'm still stitching away, so I'll have some more in progress updates of my Miras-in-progress soon.

I finished Royal Holiday in November 2010 - she's done on cream Belfast over 2.

Updated Royal Holiday

Slowly but surely making progress on Royal Holiday, which is my project of focus until she's completed.   I finished all the red of her cloak last night, and still have a fair amount of work to do, but I should be able to complete her in a month or so. 

Like all the Queens, she's a fun stitch - just big so time consuming.  I'll be replacing all the Wisper thread, which I really hate using, with DMC white, as I've done with all the other Queens in the collection. 

A new start

....because I can't finish a Mirabilia without starting one of the many others I have lined up.   But you knew that.

I started Queen Mermaid last weekend.   The fabric is Sterling Silver from Silkweaver, which is a very muted pattern hand dyed in a lovely silvery-blue-grey color.  I really love it for this project, which is a good thing because I'll also be doing Deepest Love on the same fabric at some point.

There's quite a bit of metallics on her (as with most of the mermaids) so I went ahead and ordered those because there's only so much I can stitch "around" where they need to go.   Should be here shortly.

And finally....Sleeping Beauty

She is, at last, complete.
The particulars: The design is Sleeping Beauty by Mirabilia; the fabric is "Fathom" by Picture This Plus, 32 count lugana done over 2. Started May 2009; completed September 17, 2010.

Nearly there!

The end is finally in sight for Sleeping Beauty...yay!

I think I should be able to finish up all of the stitching in about two weeks, and then get the beading done (of which there is a lot, although it's fairly straight forward).

It's always exciting when a finish is near...whew!  

Finishing up Sleeping Beauty

It's time to drop out of rotating projects and get a finish in!

I broke out Sleeping Beauty again last weekend, and I'll be working on her until she's finished.   This week, I managed to get her skirt done, which was quite a challenge.

A lot of shading and working in a swirl pattern which will be beaded once all the stitching is done.  It was a bit tedious because there's so much room for error there - ack!  Anyway, it's done now, and as you can see, I'm adding still more roses.   There's still quite a bit of work to do on her, but she's coming along nicely.

Garden Verses

Because you can never have too many Miras-in-progress, right? 

I've been chomping at the bit to start something new, so I pulled Garden Verses out of the "kitted" bin and got started on her this week.   She's a very early Mirabilia, so not as much bling as the newer patterns have - no beading at all and just some gold blending filament strategically placed.   The fabric is Apricot belfast.

Royal Holiday

I seem to have gotten a lot of her done this week.  I was really focused on working on the gold of the skirt and getting that completed, which I nearly did.   There's still a bit at the bottom that needs to get done.  I also have to go back and fill in all the scrollwork in the skirt itself, which is some dark brown DMC, two different metallics and a few beads.   But still....a lot completed!

Sleeping Beauty

I've been working on Sleeping Beauty for the last two and a half weeks - making a lot of great progress, as you can see!    There always seems to be a point in a project where you turn a corner after feeling like you're not even close and then suddenly, you're nearly done.   I've really been enjoying working on her so her originaly scheduled one week of attention has been stretched out.

I don't think I'll stick with her past the end of this week, but next time around in rotation will definately be time to finish her up.   She already has a replacement project kitted and ready to go (as always LOL)

Royal Holiday will be up next in 2 weeks.

The Kiss...

I got quite a bit done over Memorial Day weekend; not so much last week.  Still, it's a really nice start!

This is a more petite Mirabilia, just over seven inches wide.   Wallspace that isn't in full sun (even though I get UV glass when I frame) is somewhat of an issue, so it's nice to have some smaller pieces.

I'll be working on some non-Mira projects the next two weeks (there will be updates of those on my blog) but then I'll be bringing Sleeping Beauty back out to work on.

Blue Skies....

Another Mira start for me.  I was getting panicky because I only had two Miras in progress ;-)

This time it's The Kiss on apricot Belfast linen.  Unlike most Mira's, they've got an almost full background including this bit of blue sky I worked on this week (and a little hair). 

Not much to see as yet, but off to a good start!

Labeling your projects

Hi fellow Mira addicts!

If I could make a request/suggestion to my fellow posters?    At the bottom of your post when in editing mode, there's an area for labels.   Can we all consider labeling our posts with the name of the design and our name?

Now that we're getting into a fairly "mature" stage of the blog, lots of us have worked on the same projects and it would be nice to be able to click a specific design and see everyone's work on it, or all of one person's work.

For example, if you wanted to see all the "Royal Holidays", you could just click the label, and you'd see all my postings for her, all Kathy's, plus any other work from other people.

You can go back and add labels to previous posts via the edit feature if you'd like.

Just something to consider!

Sleeping Beauty

I've been working on Sleeping Beauty's skirt, which has NOT been the easiest area to work on.  There's a lot of space left for the beaded swirls (I bead last) and there's a subtle green/white shading in the area.   I resorted to working on a 10x10 square of pattern at a time, and that moved things along fairly quickly.  

Midsummer Night's Fairy is Done!

Yay!  She's been on my "bucket list" for YEARS, so I'm really glad I got her done.   She is my 10th completed Mirabilia.

Edited to add:  The fabric is Misty Blue 32 count belfast linen.  In retrospect, with so many beads on it, it would have come out a little neater on 28 count.

Woot!  Got the last beads put on her yesterday.    The fabric is PtP's Fathom lugana, 32 count.
