Winter Queen update

I stitched on her last night and finished the section I was working on. Can't wait til next Tuesday.

I seem to have done a bit more than I thought. I did have to frog a bit because I was out by one stitch . I didn't realize it until the neck was done. Oh well I'm almost back to where I was! [about to where the needle is]

Quick Intro

I am new to Ann's group of stitchers which I discovered in Sep 2008. I have been stitching on and off for years and used to sell Creative Circle 2 decades ago. I am now back into hand stitching and really enjoying this challenge. I am semi-retired, have been married for 20 years to my second husband, have 2 sons and 2.5 grandchildren. We live in the rural area of Quinte West and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the country side. I have travelled all over Europe and have visited all the Provinces in Canada from PEI to BC. I love challenges of all kinds and I am amazed at how much stitching this group has done in just one month. I am looking forward to seeing the finished projects. Thank you for letting me be a part of this group. I will post more photos next week.

Here is the progress of this weekend past. The colours are quite pretty I think!

Now a little about myself.
Hmmmm. I was born in the Netherlands in 1948. My parents and my 2 brothers and I came across the pond in 1952, We moved to a very small village called Batawa in Ontario. The main factory was a shoe plant called Bata Shoe. Well known around the world at the time.
My Dad worked for them for over 40 years. My first job was there as well. Yikes too dirty and stinky for me.
As a young girl I lived in the Middle East as well while my Dad set up a plant in Baghdad.Yup I lived there for a short time then Moved back to Holland until I was 15. [2 years]
Back to Canada [Batawa] and I won't bore you with my teen years. I did start to work at 16[Hairdresser]
Through the years there were many changes and one was that I met Kathy. We both worked at the same place and became fast friends.
That was 30 years ago. hmmmm. Boy did we have some fun together! Mind you we still do just a bit slower!
I only started to stitch in 2005. My Mom stitched for years and I wasn't ready. Once I started there is no holding me back.
I love the fact that I can blog and meet so many people with the same interests. This is so much fun.
I moved back to this part of the country in 1988 after beening married and divorced. Now I am Married to a man that I met Golfing and Have been with him for 11 years. We are both retired and I enjoy singing in 2 chiors.
This probably sounds a bit choppy but I just don't want to write a book.
Let it be known that there was a lot of interesting things in between and one of them was that I lived in Germany as well as Florida,...See I could just go on.

my progress

Hello Ladies,

well since we are introducing ourselves....I am Marj, 40 and single..never married , no kids. I started stitching after I finished University in 1990 as a hobby, I didnt do very much until my sister got engaged and I decided to do TW Wedding Sampler for her. I went on the TWBB and met a whole group of local ladies and it took off from there.

Fairy Idyll was my first attempt on linen and has been a work in progress for many years as other projects have come along. Both my sisters are married, so two wedding samplers for them, birth announcement for my niece and various other smaller projects.

I also knit and scrapbook as well.

I took a snow day yesterday, well work at home day. We got 30cm of snow in my neck of the woods (oshawa, ontario, canada) from saturday night through to sunday night and the snow plow never came to my street until after 6am monday morning. So I got up at 5am and saw the street hadnt been plowed and went back to bed.....

I did do quite a bit on Fairy Idyll with being snowed in on sunday....although I did spend a few hours shovelling out.

Hi, I am Shelleen and am 43. I have been married for 20 years to Scott. We have 2 boys, Justin is 18 and in college. Dylan is 16 and a Junior in high school. We live in Pavilion, NY , which is between Buffalo and Rochester. We also have 3 cats and a dog.
I was a SAHM until May 2007 and work as a lab technician in a forage labe, where we test cow feed. I have been stitching since I was a teenager. I love all kinds of designers and designs. I don't know if I have 1 favorite. I also love to read but since I went back to work it has taken a backseat, so I listen to audiobooks while I am stitching. I also scrapbook a little and make beaded scissor fobs.

From the Desert

I have been stitching for 20 years or more and have been so inspired since I started blogging 2 years ago. My home is now filled with stitching projects displayed in every room except my son's bedroom and I run out of places to add any new stitching to. I have had several pieces professionally framed and since this cost quite a bit, I try to keep projects that must be framed to a minimum. I lose my desire to stitch from time to time but since stitching is now a part of the 'fabric of my being', I can't ever quit entirely.

Mirabilia is one of my favorite designers to stitch; I usually stitch alone in the comfort of my livingroom or bedroom but also love getting together with other stitchers whenever the opportunity presents itself.

I am very glad to have the opportunity to be a part of this group and look forward to getting to know each member. You can learn a little bit more about me and/or my stitching over at my blog called Passion of the Day.

Saying Hello

Well, good morning everyone. I think we have our group established now. There are 16 of us Mirabilites (is that a word LOL)!
A few will not be regular posters as they do not blog or access the computer often but we will try and get progress photos from them every once in a while.
Okay now, as your fearless (not) leader, I would like to start things off. Would you please take a few minutes and post a little entry to this blog to introduce yourself. Since I seem to be the common link with everyone maybe you could include that in your note.

My name is Kathy A. I am 56 (you don't have to give your age)! I have two sons 33 and 35 and three beautiful grandchildren - Drew 12, Jackson 4, and Hunter 2. I am crazy about my grandchildren and my husband Leo and I spend as much time with them as we possibly can.
We live in Ontario Canada from May to October in a park model with lake frontage on Lake Ontario. We live in Yuma, Arizona from November to April in a park model in the desert.
I love to stitch and have been stitching since the early 1990's. My BFF Beatrice's mother taught me to cross stitch. Since my DH and I retired in 2001, I have been able to devote more time to stitching and my stash has grown in leaps and bounds. I now have enough stitching to do to last me till I am 102. Beatrice and I have booked adjoining rooms in the nursing home so we can continue to stitch into our 90's as her mother does and hopefully longer.
My stitching world has expanded considerably since I discovered the world of blogs and all the amazing stitchers out there.
It has also expanded with the introduction of Ann from Knowledge and Needles in the little town near where I live. Ann has graciously allowed many stitchers to gather at her home on Thursday afternoons for several years and recently expanded to a second group on Fridays as we have grown so large.
I am a huge fan of Mirabilia and Lavender and Lace and Royal Holiday will be my 5th piece.
I look forward to stitching with you all. I am sure we will see some wonderful progresses as we go.
BTW, I'm kinda chatty both at a keyboard and in real life. You don't have to make your introduction so long.

And another week's progress

Well, it looks like Saturday is going to be my Mirabilia day. I found some quality time on Saturday and stitched away.
Unfortunately, all there is to see is some more brown blob. And near the end of my stitching I found a boo boo and so the frogs came for a visit. Darn it.
I had a lot of trouble getting a clear picture of my work so, for better or worse, here it is -

I have been really enjoying working on Damask Roses. I forgot how quickly it can progress due to the large blocks of colour.



Maybe an SAL is the kick in the pants I needed!

Hello and a start

Hi girls!

I am Rita from Hungary. I am 33, mother of two boys, and am working as a part-time auditor. I have joined this blog this week, and Friday I could not resist on starting my first Mira ever. It is not really a Mira, but a Nora Corbett anyway. I am stitching fairy letter A. As it is quicker than I expected, I will keep her as my Let's stitch Friday Night SAT project. Garden Fairy - Adia

I did all the math and because I schedule everything during the day, I calculated that I need to stitch 500 stitches each week for the next 50 weeks in order to finish this by December 31. So this week I stitched, stitched and stitched until finially here is what 500 stitches looks like.

Thank you Kathy for letting me join your blog :) For those that don't know me I am Maxine, I'll be 44 in March and I have been stitching for nine years. I love stitching BAP's and have recently got into stitching samplers. I'm embarrassed to say that I have tons of Mirabilia charts but haven't yet finished one! I do have three on the go though...

Mira ing with Dani

Dani and I got together yesterday for a very nice visit. We took advantage of our time together and stitched on our Mirabilia's. I had a small visit from the frogs so my progress was not as much as I had hoped. Unfortunately, it still looks like a brown blob. I did not even realize that there was brown in her dress. Hopefully soon, it will look like something wonderful.

My weekend of stitching

HI Everyone, well since it was a cold weekend up here and I didnt have many social obligations, I tried to stitch as much as possible on my Fairy Idyll. I also finished knitting up a scarf I was working on.

Last night I stitched until my show started....season premiere of 24! loved it. I cant do much of anything when that show is on...lol

I took a photo of Fairy Idyll last night so you can see my progress. I am working on the topiary urn area in the left hand corner. so a little bit more progress since last week and it is starting to look like something.

I kitted up a small piece to bring along to work with me, an ornament from a set of 7 I started last year.

Kathy came over to my place for a visit today (our last visit until she's back up North in April!) and we both worked on our Mirabilias.

Mirabilia Garden Fairy--Adia

I have gotten my fairy started and here is a photo of what I have accomplished so far which isn't much at the moment as i am getting ready for a Craft show at the end of March. The background is an dusty olive green which will go well with all the yellows and greens in this fairy.

First Steps

It's not much but it is a first step. I got my fabric on the scroll frame and put a few stitches into Athena. This part is her shoulder and I will work up to the peach color skin in her face sometime this week.

Stitching on my Queen

Tomorrow, I am going to visit Dani for the afternoon. I am bringing my Queen with me and hopefully she and I will stitch on our Mira's together. Will post a photo later.

A quick Hello

Damask Roses

Thanks for the invite Kathy and Beatrice.

I have pulled Damask Roses out of the deep dark depths of my craft room. I started her in 2006, and this may well have been the last time I stitched on her also!

I am quite excited about getting going on this Mirabilia design again, so thanks for the motivation.

benefits of a sick day

Hi ladies,
I took yesterday off from work as a "sick day".....well with the impending winter weather and a lovely chest cold, I figured it was a good day to stay home.
I did do some stitching on FIdyll since I was home, although not much to report. Just worked away on the bottom of the Topiary vase, so lots of 453/452 and white....doesnt look like much but hopefully on sunday I will take another picture and have more to show after a weekend of working on her.
It seems to be an area of lots of colour changes.....so should be a slow part to do...

Winter Queen

I had to ask myself last night, "How did this become a UFO?" Oh yeah, too many other SALs and new projects to start. I had started this on 3/14/06 and pulled it back out this past December and stitched on her a little bit and then again last night. She is my rotation on Tuesdays.

I remember

Why did this become a UFO? Now I remember, grrrrr, it was stitching those darn wings with that PITA (pain in the .....) Kreneik floss! I persevered and managed to get one wing complete and then moved on to her hair to give me a break. Not sure if I like the colour blends in her hair. I'm using the required Crescent Colours floss. Oh well, I'm not about to change it now. On to the next wing this evening.

HI Everyone, thanks for inviting me! I am going to be working on Fairy Idyll. I started this piece many moons ago (8 yrs), my first piece on linen.....but then other things got in the way and I do get back to her from time to time. I am hoping to have this piece done this year! I am over the halfway point and will devote my weekends to working on her and hopefully not get tempted away but other pieces calling to me like I have in the past.
I am hoping to figure out how to post a picture soon

Let me just begin by saying thank you for having me ! I went back and forth and back again but finally reached a decision and she was N.C. Holly Pixie..... . And here is my start . She is taking shape nicely! I only managed to get one thread done on New Years Day since I worked but have now made good progress and will post again soon! I am enjoying seeing everyone's progress!!!!

No idea....

I had no idea when I accepted Kathy's invite to "see this blog" that it would add me as a member! I have no Mirabilia's in my stash...no $$$ to get one so I may just enjoy watching you all stitch away this year. I do have my Fairy Godmother kitted and ready to go but it is a Barbara Baatz so does not count as a "Mirabilia"...

Thanks for the invite to join this blog Kathy! I am looking forward to stitching with you ladies! I have so many unfinished big projects and Mirabilia's Feather Fairy is one of them. As you can see from the WIP picture I did make the smallest start on this at some point last year. I hope this SAL will encourage me to work on her this year! I had already decided to dedicate 2009 to my big unfinished projects so this is perfect timing!

Lynn's Easter Fairy UFO

Thanks Kathy for inviting me to join in on the Mirabilia SAL. I definitely needed this kick in the pants to get back to stitching on my Easter Fairy which I've dragged out of my UFO pile. I hope to start putting some stitches back into this one in the next couple of days. I've posted a pic of my progress up to now. I'm not going to commit to one particular night since that doesn't seem to always work out for me. I've got a good head start and with any luck I'll be able to finish her off by Easter and start in on another. Wish me luck!

Dani's Start

Hey fellow Mira stitchers. Despite not really wanting not, despite "not feeling it" I did kit up (well minus the metallics) my Mirabillia, Art Deco Spirits. I didn't start it at the stroke of midnight, but I did managed to work on it a few hours today, and I quite enjoyed it!
